Mathew Halpin is an Australian visual artist with a diploma in Theater Set Design. His theater work had him designing in opera, short films, dance and plays. Mathew has had many solo exhibitions in Europe. He has lived in London UK, Tallinn Estonia, and Sydney Australia. At the moment he spends his time between Heraklion city and a mountain village on the island of Crete in Greece. ​Mathew currently runs an artists residency and manages a project called, 'The Lakkos Project'. It's aim is to bring art and life back to a very neglected area via street art. After a break of almost ten years he is now back to focusing on visual art. He also published a book in December 2021 about running an artist residency and all of the interesting challenges that can bring.
