La Napoule Art Foundation
La Napoule Art Foundation
About
Originally a medieval fortress dating back to the 14th century, Château de La Napoule was restored in the early 1900s by American sculptor Henry Clews Jr. and his wife Marie Clews, who transformed it into an eccentric artistic sanctuary filled with sculptures, symbolism, mythology, and fantasy architecture.
Today the château functions as:
artist residency center
a museum
sculpture environment
cultural foundation
international arts destination
non-profit art retreat destination
The foundation itself was established in 1951 by Marie Clews to continue supporting artists from around the world.
