ARTISTS' HIDEAWAY bytheSEA, Galicia, Spain - Private Refuge
This beautiful "ARTISTS' HIDEAWAY BY THE SEA" in Galicia, Spain, designed by the host, an Architect & Landscape Architect, has remained, over these past years, her own hidden creative refuge. A rural retreat on a hillside overlooking a uniquely beautiful coastal landscape, tucked away in a small village in one of the most well-preserved corners of the Rías Baixas on the Atlantic coast. It is now shared, discreetly, with a select circle of artists, while preserving the spirit that has always defined it: a secluded place to retreat, slow down, and create in silence. The hideaway occupies the private main floor of the artist's house—a place shaped by light, the changing seasons, and the slow rhythm of rural life, where nature, the village, animals, and the landscape coexist in quiet balance. The hideaway unfolds as a bright open-plan space (80 m²) where living, working, sleeping, and resting flow together. It includes a fully equipped kitchen, a large shared dining and work table, and comfortable spaces to pause and unwind. There is one double bed (1.50 × 1.90 m) and two sofa beds (0.90 × 1.77 m each), sleeping up to four guests. One of the sofa areas transforms into a small home cinema with a projector and screen. The space includes two bathrooms, giving each sleeping area its own sense of privacy, one with a washing machine. Velvet curtains allow the interior to shift and transform—open or enclosed—while air conditioning (cooling and heating) ensures year-round comfort. The changing seasons, Atlantic light, and the surrounding landscape continue to define the atmosphere of the retreat. A large work table sits before a wide window conceived as a frame for the landscape, opening onto extraordinary views of one of the most pristine coastal areas of the Rías Baixas. Sea, forests, mountains, traditional stone granaries, and small villages unfold as a continuous horizon, while sailing boats drift quietly across hidden coves below. Outside, a sunlit terrace opens the creative rural hideaway to the village and the surrounding landscape. Located along the Camino de Santiago towards Cape Finisterre—the ancient pilgrimage to the end of the world (Au Bout du Monde), just one hour away by car—this is a place to arrive, slow down, create, read, think, watch films, or simply be, held between the Atlantic, the land, and the horizon.

What kind of creatives can come?
The "ARTISTS' HIDEAWAY BY THE SEA" in Galicia is a rural retreat for quiet, open-minded creatives working with ideas, images, and words—writers, editors, filmmakers in post-production or development stages, photographers, digital artists, designers, illustrators, landscape architects, researchers, and others who think and work through writing or visual processes. It is intended as a light-use working environment, suited to focused individual work, reflection, and remote creative practice rather than production-intensive activity. The space is not designed for noise, heavy equipment, or interventions that alter the home. Time outside the creative refuge can be spent walking through nearby mountains, forests, and beaches, as well as resting or observing everyday life in the rural village at a slow pace. Evenings can be spent viewing and editing films from the sofa beds in a soft, cinema-like setting.
